English Pronunciation Exercises

42 different sounds of English vowels and consonants

Lesson One

 
This contains the sounds that the letters make,rather than the sounds of the names of the letters that are taught in the English alphabets.This is because it is the sounds that are useful for reading and writing and not the names of the alphabets.


We will therefore indicate the difference between the sounds of the names of the alphabets and the sounds that the letters make.

These are the sounds that are useful for reading and writing in English.

We will first define what R Blends are.'R' blends are termed as consonant blends whereby the second letter is 'R'. 

How many types of R Blends do we have?

There are six different types of 'R' blends, and these are as follow;
